SUMMARY
Samples of yellow cadmium sulphide encrustrations on sphalerite have been collected from several mines in the orefield. From two localities greenockite has been positively identified. As the majority of the free CdS found in the orefield appears to be amorphous, it is probable that it has formed by the supergene leaching of cadmium-bearing sphalerite.
